Tired, but optimistic

Becky and her Chucks

I really need to stop forgetting to update the good ol’ AB.C blog. It’s not so much that I forget as other things just get in the way. But that’s not what I’m posting about.

I’ve been really exhausted from classes, homework, Union, and trying to have some semblance of a social life. Even though that’s the case, I’ve been overall in a pretty good mood the last month or so.

This weekend was the Sophomore Royal Ball. “But Aaron”, you exclaim, “you’re not a sophomore!” And you’d be right. But the lucky lady pictured at right is one :) The rest of the photos.

On a more serious note, I did eventually choose between the two classes mentioned in this post - I’m taking the journalism class. That means that I’m taking two (2) courses essentially on the Internet (not online courses, but rather about the Internet). Not only does this align pretty well with my interests, but it allows me to take some courses in departments I wouldn’t have set foot in otherwise. Maybe law and journalism aren’t that scary after all…

Another great thing about taking two ‘net-related courses is that this semester, my schedule allows me to go on a semi-regular basis to Berkman’s Tuesday Lunch Series. I’ll be going this week to a talk by Britt Blaser called “Dean Done Right”, about campaigns on the internet. Next week I’ll be going to a talk by Cory Doctorow on DRM, sponsored in part by Berkman (info on the talk). The really cool part about that talk is that I can relate it directly to my law class (which I’ll be missing to go to the talk…).

Brandeis has two breaks during the spring semester. The next one is coming up in 2 weeks. Looks like I’ll be in NYC for a good chunk of it. I really like “The City”, and I’ve got a lot of friends who live there, so it should be really fun. If you’ll be in the NYC area then, let me know.

I might be in the city for a bit over break, too! It all depends on whether or not I go down to DC instead.
